Purchased this for my 26' Cobalt, 496 Mercruiser. This engine has the fast water drain system. We used the Boatsafe heater to insure the engine stayed nice and warm during the winter months. It allowed us to go out boating around Thanksgiving and Christmas (before ice hit the lake). We could raise the boat on the lift, use the quick drain feature to drain the water, then plug in the Boatsafe heater. I also covered the outside vents and wrapped a showercap around the exhaust on the prop. Even when the air temp was well below freezing the engine compartment stayed in the mid 30's. Never noticed a spike in the my electric bill. Great investment. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "BoatSafe 250w Engine Compartment Heater" are high quality item.
