JVC GR-DVM70U Digital Cybercam Camcorder with Built-in Digital Still Mode Review

After the birth of my son, I wanted a camcorder to shoot video of him and family events.I tried the Canon ZR, Canon Vistura, and JVC DVM-70 The main reason I liked the JVC DVM-70 is the small size and relative low cost. This camcorder is so small it fits in a pants pocket or even a shirt pocket! Size is very important for me because of my experience with 35 millimeter cameras. I have 2 cameras: one full size Canon SRL camera that cost about $1000.00, and one small Yashika T4 Super pocket size camera that cost $150.00. Guess where most of my good family photos come from - the $150.00 pocket size camera! That's because this is the camera I carry most of the time. I just don't like to be "Joe Photographer Guy" or "Joe Camcorder Guy" lugging around a big piece of equipment. I can carry the DVM-70 in my pocket and quickly pull it out and start shooting when something interesting happens - just the way I use my Yashika T4.The DVM-70 is also very quick and easy to use. Once you turn a switch to the "Camera" position, the camcorder automatically turns itself on and off when you open or close the LCD panel, or eye piece. This is important because often the action you want to record happens quickly; you'll miss shots if you have to fumble with controls. One problem with this camera is that the microphone is on the top. It picks up some motor noise from the camera, and you have to be careful not to let it pick up the sound of your own breathing. However, this is a problem with most of these very small camcorders, and I don't find it to be too big of a problem. I have also had problems with lots of wind noise when shooting outside in the wind.I've had the DVM-70 for about a year now and I still don't see another camcorder I'd rather have for recording family events. Sony CFDE55 Blue and Silver CD/Cassette Boom Box with Digital Radio Review

...I bought this originally because I wanted to be able to havemusic in the house wherever I was, without needing to buy a seperate stereo for the kitchen, the bedroom, and the living room (I love my music).Great little boombox, needs slightly better bass but overall sound quality is very good. CDs have all played without a problem, nice features in being able to see where in a disc you are, set playback options (random, repeat, etc.). Radio reception is very good, half the time I don't even have to use the antenna. Can put in nine presets, I really like this option! Cassette player is also good, my major complaint with that is no reverse playback. That's a bummer, but otherwise the controls are all very well laid out, and the boombox isn't made of overly chintzy materials.It's a really neat color and shape - sort of like a little donut or spaceship with a handle. Requires 4 AA batteries to run the clock when it's not plugged in, that was a pain the first time because I made all my presets then turned off the switch for the electrical socket by accident. Oops.Has an alarm, and the coolest thing about the radio option is you can set the alarm music volume to be different from the sleep mode music volume. That way you can set music to play for up to an hour while you go to sleep at a nice low volume, then let it blast away at a higher volume when the alarm goes off. Also has a timer, so I carry this thing into the kitchen when I'm cooking.Very compact, very portable, and everyone who comes over wants to play with it. Overall, definitely a good purchase and worth the money for a small, powerful boombox that you can carry from room to room. I have been installing stereos for a long time and always trying out different subs, speakers, amps etc.... and I just bought a gmc 2500 crew cab and I really wanted to have a sub behind the seat. I saw this and hesitated because there were no reviews. after hooking it up the sound quality is great and it even hits the low notes. I turned it up even more and it was rattling the inside of the truck. this fits perfect behind my rear seat. If you are looking for a sub that can fit in thin spaces, I would recommend this one. It sounds like a full size sub and it keeps up with the fast bass hitting songs and they are clear as well as the songs that have very low bass, it does not lose tone at all. very happy with it.
