Clarion ProAudio DXZ845MC CD/MP3/WMA receiver with Music Catcher Review

When I bought my car in '04, it came with a Kenwood KDC-215s installed. That ultra simple CD/FM/AM-only unit worked ok for my simple taste until it died on me this summer. Appearance and sound were more important to me than features. I already have a Sirius XACT Razr in my car and I didn't think I would need my iPod hooked up while driving. I only needed something that matched the infamous BMW amber color dash which is hard to do. Most European radios have the Variable Color Displays, but USA models do not so it was easy to narrow my search down to this Clarion unit. I found one immediately on eBay that was Brand New in the box and complete with the Sirius and iPod Kit. I was prepared to pay the $350 retail price for it, but I won it for only $51.00! The features take a while to learn if you are upgrading from something simple like me. MusicCatcher is much cooler to have than you would think, it literally puts a 6GB hard drive in your car. The built in sound features are so great I decided not to buy an amp or subwoofer, but I soon found out my car needed better speakers to handle the new power of this HU. It has an Alarm LED blinker when the face plate is removed which is remarkable. I also found the iPod hook up via AUX input for my Podcasts to be icing on the cake. Plus the remote control is one of the best in car remotes ever made.
My only complaint is that the display washes out a bit in direct sunlight, when driving with the sunroof open. Other than that this is the perfect CD/Mp3-WMA/Sirius/HardDrive/AUX-in/iPod-friendly/AM/FM Head Unit.
