As far as feel and build quality there is no better built device, and it looks cool as hell too! The wieghted dial is perfect for scrubbing and your hands never get fatigued because there is enough surface to support an adult sized hand.
First I have to say that you need to be very diligent in setting this thing up. Download the Manual from AVID and as a FCPX user (yes it is compatible with FCPX, regardless of what they state on their own website!) I strongly suggest you do not
upgrade the software past 2.5.6. The newer software is even buggier than the earlier ones were and really compromises the ability for your Mac to "see" the surface. I use this thing for scanning though lots of video footage looking for that perfect soundbite to fill the spot.
When you finally get the software installed you may have to re-start your computer for the software to see the surface. Once it sees it go into system preferences and click on Euphonix and literally drag the FCPX Icon right into the window. That's it you are ready to go.
you will have to re-strat your machine and when it does just wait a few minutes and the software should load the surface. If not, click on the Euphonix Icon at the top right hand toolbar and click cancel if you get an error message. Click on the Transport in the left window and and then click "Add". Your surface is now active. You may have to repeat the steps at times but be patient. When it works its awesome!!!
