The EXD200 is lightweight and stylish yet very robust, and it is designed specifically for 21st century photographers on the move. The 5 volts sync voltage makes them highly suitable for use with all current digital and film cameras. Push button controls allow the desired power levels and functions to be quickly set. EXd200 also has user changeable flashtubes. The EXD can also overcome the problem caused by cameras that tend out a pre flash before exposure, a simple press of the buttons tells the EXD to ignore up to 3 pre flashes. Accurate power adjustment in one tenth of an f-stop increments over a 4 stop range and a high guide number of 45m (135ft) ensure the exact amount of light required. 100% recharge is confirmed by both audible and visual means in less than 2 seconds. Light is everything in photography. Interfit knows this and they produce a good "midrange" product. The EXD line by Interfit is geared toward the prosumer and semi pro photogs.

The EXD line, this flash head included, is well made and includes features absent the "economy" models produced by other brands including ability to ignore pre-flashes, audible signal, and optical slave. However, it should be noted that many of the "economy" models now include some of these features. The light measures steady and accurate output. If you are using a camera with TTL (metering), there is no real need for a seperate light meter. You can dial in the proper setting in less than 3 shots. From there, it's all creativity.

Now for the "bad." 200 watts is not much light. This single light is good for headshots or product shots. It also works real well with additional lights such as the Interfit EXD 400 watt 2 head kit. In that scenario, this light would be good for background illumination or hair highlighting. ( a 3 light kit is a really solid setup). So, if you purchase this single light, or even a 2 light EXD 200 setup, understand you are working from a disadvantage in terms of light quantity (not quality). When you start adding light modifiers, you effectively further reduce light output and thus start seeing limitations.

In summation, the EXD line is great for prosumers and those moving into the prosumer range. Just make sure you get enough light on your subject.
