Sanyo DVW-7000 Review

Sanyo has combined a very good DVD player with a very average VHS player in one unit and offers it at a very affordable price. I have two of these units (one upstairs and one down), and I am mostly pleased with their performance. The DVD player works fabulously. The only negative is the VHS player. On both of my units the picture on the VHS player has an annoying squiggly line at the top of the screen. No matter how much I try tracking the unit, I cannot get rid of the line. It seems to have a mind of its own, as it comes and goes, irritating the heck out of me. It also produces a mild audio static sound when it begins to vibrate.

The remote control is on the small side, but is easy to learn and use. I really like the front side input audio and visual jacks!

For the money, this unit is a good buy despite the VHS payer deficiency. I play far more DVD's than I do VHS tapes, as I am phasing the latter out, so the picture vibration in VHS mode is of minor concern. If you have a lot of VHS viewing, you may want to consider a different unit.
