I have had the unit for almost a year and I consider it a very good buy. I have had no problems with failures or file corruption or security or anything. Maybe I got lucky, but I bought this unit after a lot of research on the web and really feel like I made the right decision. The transfer time between the unit and my computer is phenomenal, it behaves as if it were directly integrated into the computer rather than an USB-attached add-on. In the home network, it also communicates (through it's base computer) speedily and without any interruption. I have had an occasional trouble with the power cord, but I believe this may have more to do with the placement of the unit amongst all my other gadgets than to any fault of the manufacturer. I may even buy another of these, because I've already used most of the space in this one.
