The wide angle lens is durable and attaches to your lens easily. You just take off your lens hood and screw it on. The macro works well too and was a nice bonus, because the Sony HVRZ1U video camera does not come with a macro setting. The lens does add some weight to the front of the camera, so you will have to adjust how you have the camera set on the tripod. If you are shooting hand-held, your hand is going to tire sooner. The biggest downfall is that this lens is made for a widescreen camera (the Sony HVRZ1U has 16:9 settings). The lens maker knows this, yet you can still see the edge of the lens in your video. Be careful, you may not be able to see it in your viewfinder, but when you look at your downloaded video without overscan, you will see the edge of the lens. You can either push the zoom in slightly while shooting (which still gives you a wider setting), or you can adjust it out while editing.
