I purchased the Pearl white. Not realy pearl, but just white. That is OK, but was hoping for a bit more "pearl." That aside, great optics and good focus adjustment. Very happy with the quality, if not minor color issue. If you have a narrow face you might find it difficult to close down snuggly around the face. Average size face, no problem. Case is cheap and offers little protection. All and all, I wold recommend this product, as it delivers superior optic and focus,

Bringing high-resolution audio performance to newly affordable prices, the Philips DVD763SA DVD player features high-end multichannel and stereo SACD playback in addition to accommodating DVD-Video, VCD, and MP3 CD-R and CD-RW. It also converts non-region-encoded PAL-formatted discs (the standard in Europe) for viewing on standard NTSC televisions.

Depending on the discs, SACD music releases provide super high-fidelity multichannel and/or stereo sound. Because the SACD signal is too high-resolution for the digital-to-analog converters in current surround receivers (and also as an anti-piracy measure), the DVD763SA performs its own decoding of SACD signals, passing high-resolution analog, not digital, audio to your integrated amplifier or surround receiver. This means you'll need an audio/video receiver with multichannel analog-audio inputs to appreciate multichannel SACD releases. Built-in SACD bass management helps tailor the output level of the ".1" LFE (low-frequency effects) channel to a system, as an appropriate level may differ from the output level appropriate for Dolby Digital and DTS surround mixes.

A set of stereo and a set of multichannel analog-audio outputs route audio from SACDs as well as from Dolby Digital- and DTS-encoded DVDs to a compatible audio/video receiver. If you're not planning to use the SACD capability for multichannel programming, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can also be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for simpler connection to a compatible AV receiver.

Parallel video outputs let you route the player's composite-video, S-video, and high-end component-video outputs to three different televisions simultaneously. Other playback options include five-disc resume, which lets you pick-up where you left off on five most recently viewed DVDs, enhanced parental control (with 120-disc lockout), and picture zoom for magnification of select images.

Philips DVD763SA Multi-Channel SACD/DVD Player Review

I bought this unit specifically to play the new Super Audio SACDs. In particular, I wanted something that would play the new Rolling Stones ABKCO SACD reissues.
The unit does a great job of playing the SACDs. But there is no headphone output anywhere on the unit. There is no Volume Control on the unit or the Remote Control, which appears to be more directed at playing DVD movies than SACD purposes.
The unit is constructed very inexpensively. I really miss the headphone output, and would have been happy to pay a few dollars more for the feature. The unit is very lightweight.
I would have preferred a more solid unit. The disc tray hangs a bit loose in the open position, and CDs don't fit down in the tray solidly. The unit does not completely turn off unless the power is cut to it, the unit has a "Standby" switch only.
Because the SACD technology is new, I did not want to buy an expensive unit for several thousand dollars at this point. I guess for the entry level price I can't expect the machine of my dreams.

Gossen is again setting standards with the Luna-Star F2 Meter. One of the most valuable features of the Luna-Star F2 is the rotating measuring head which is equipped with a diffuser dome for incident light measurement. The head will rotate through 270 degrees. This feature allows the photographer to see the large display while taking the readings. Remove the incident diffuser dome and you can measure reflected light and subject contrast easily. The combined readout on the display is shown in both digital and analog form and provides a wealth of information. Both flash and ambient light are measured at the same instant, it is no problem to determine the balance between flash and ambient light. Last but not least, the Luna-Star F2� s outstanding ease of use with just six buttons overs all of the operations required.

Gossen Luna Star GO 4032 F2 Light Meter Review

Even when you can get instant previews for free from a digital camera, a handheld meter is nice for determining contrast. An image that is too contrasty will be easy to capture with RAW format, but very difficult to print.

How's this particular meter? It is the nicest that I have ever used, much better than the old Minolta standards. It takes one

standard 9V battery that you can buy anywhere. It only has six buttons

and their functions are obvious. I was able to use all but one of the

meter's modes within 60 seconds of putting in the battery without

reading the manual. 99% of what you'd need to know from the manual is

printed in four sections on the back of the meter. The meter is great

for computing lighting ratios. You press the measurement button once to

take a snapshot reading. You press and hold it while sweeping the meter

around a scene and the Luna-Star F2 draws you a graph at the bottom of

the display of the contrast range (e.g., f8-f16). Every time take a

flash reading, the meter also shows you the ambient reading with an

unobtrusive little bar on the same graph. Unlike the Minolta meters,

you don't need a "reflected attachment" and an "incident attachment."

The naked meter works to measure reflected light. Add a plastic

incident piece and you can measure incident light. Add a little

viewfinder and you've got a 5 degree spot meter. It is a great design

and smaller than competing products. Nit: It only meters down to EV

-2.5. That's a couple of stops less light than most pro SLRs but not as

good as some other handheld meters.

Microtek ArtixScan 2500f Scanner Review

When you are going to spend a lot of money on a large purchase like this you like to shop around and know that you are getting everything for your dollar. I found out that nothing short of a drum scanner is going to come close to the optics in this scanner. I feel like it is the Mercedes of scanners, with features like anti-vibration and other features that you don't really know exactly when they do but know that they are contributing to the operation of the scanner. Since we have received the scanner we have been very pleased. I called up technical support to get the run down on how to operate the scanner and a very nice gentlemen walked me through the operation and use of the scanner. Sony HT-DDW830 Home Theater System Review

If your goal is to get good sound for your home theater without dropping big bucks, take a look at this unit. Granted, a subwoofer of this size with only 50 watts cannot compete with a big system, but if you want deep bass, be prepared to pay a whole lot more. It sounded to me like this system put out a decent level and taughtness of bass down to about 50 Hz and could play fairly dynamically up to 90 or 95 dB. Above that level, the system sounded compressed and the smoothness of the midrange went away. But at a reasonable volume level, the mids are well reproduced and smooth. The controls have adequate sensitivity to allow you to set equalization and surround effects to match your taste for a wide variety of movie soundtracks. This is a bargain.
