I liked this computer....initially. It does look very sleak but has some huge negatives

- lots of known problems with motherboard and LED screen (just google it). I had my motherboard replaced x2 - once when I first got it because the battery wouldn't hold a charge and again for the screen. Dell came out and did it but still a pain.

- the fan runs ALL THE TIME. With normal usage - internet only the fan seems to run all the time - it's very loud and disturbing

- my screen completely broke on its own after 13 months.

So beware - starts out okay but you'd better get the long warranty and beware of the fan problems

First, the bottom line: It's well worth the money. The ratio of value to its price point is high. I'm more than happy with this sub.This is my first sub and I've mated it to Klipsch Forte II's with the SC-1 center channel. I'm a "born-again" audiophile who ventured onto the stereo scene back in the mid-'60s when monoaural systems were the norm. After having "dropped out" of the audio world during the '90s, the recent purchase of a DVD player has renewed my audio interest.I purchased this sub after reading numerous reviews and write-ups. Normally, I would personally audition any speaker purchase but having done that so many times in the past, I didn't relish the idea of going from store to store listening to various subs under various listening environments. Speaker auditioning is a task that's daunting, frustrating, and very time-consuming.Before anyone starts on a subwoofer journey, however, you must ask yourself about your expectations. Do you want a sub that overpowers a movie scene (or piece of music) that in the end becomes its own entity? Or do you want something that "seamlessly" fits in the background? I was looking for a sub that would blend in and sound "natural" without becoming a distraction.The Polk sub provides that missing link in my stereo/surround system. The bass is clean and well defined. I can definitely FEEL the bass but more importantly I can distinguish the individual bass notes and differentiate the bass from the drummer's kick drum. In HT scenarios, it's awesome and forceful without becoming an overpowering distraction. Its output is distinct without a lot of "boom." And the sub's volume setting is turned up only halfway. The sub handles itself well during the famous Star War's Pod Race as well as Jurassic Park's T-Rex intro scene. I experimented by turning up the sub volume to maximum and found it was too much (for my tastes) for my 20'x 30' living room (actually, a "great room").Overall, I'm completely satisfied with its presence when listening to music or when watching movies. I'm not naive, though, and I'm sure if the sub were placed side-by-side to a more expensive sub, the differences would be noticeable. But for a delivered price of $ I've found a sub that fits my needs and my budget.Strengths:

Believe it or not, it was difficult finding a dock for this laptop. Others "support" the EliteBook but they do not power or charge the laptop (ie: VB041UT#ABA). After doing a lot of digging and research I found the correct dock for the EliteBook (VB041AA#ABB).

The dock came with power, CD's and manual. So far so good! Video card pumps out 1920x1080 to my display just fine!

Only reason I gave it 4 of 5 stars is that there are no USB 3.0 ports. I wish it had USB 3.0 ports so I can leave my iPhone cable and external storage devices connected to the dock. This way I would not have to worry about any cables when docking or un-docking.

Sony CPD-E540 21" FD Trinitron CRT Monitor Review

As I began to realize that my 17" monitor that came with my PC was starting to affect my posture (by prompting me to lean forward to see more detail on the screen), I decided it was time to upgrade to something larger. And because I am also a watcher of DVD movies (which I play on my PC), I wanted a screen size large enough to enjoy films. So naturally I sought a monitor about the size of a medium television - say, 31" or so. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown they don't make monitors that even approach that "medium size." (Perhaps in the future?). So with that dissapointment acknowledged, I went on to what was available: 21" and 22" monitors, all of which display about 20" diagonally when all is said and done. In other words, about the size of a large television -- circa 1970! Screen: The Sony E540 has one of the largest screens one can find at this time at a reasonable price. And I am impressed by the slight difference in size compared to my previous screen - an extra couple inches does make a difference in the ease-of-reading text, and a subtle but appreciated improvement in watching movies and in graphics. The Sony is my first flat-screen monitor, and I think it makes a noticeable difference in eye comfort. The refresh rate is pleasing (I'm not sure what it is, but it must be high enough as I can neither see any flicker, nor hear any subtle high-pitched tone as one would hear from a television set). The screen is bright without being washed out, colors are accurate, and the two faint horizontal lines which all monitors of this design have are subtle to the point of being invisible unless one is viewing a solid white screen from close up - completely invisible when watching films from a few feet back. The reason I wanted a monitor such as this one was to improve my eye comfort. This one has done that. It also needed to be accurate enough for my graphics work, and it is. Everything else is not as important to me, but I'll describe my impressions anyhow:Aesthetics: The two-tone monitor's shell is suitably modern when viewed from the side, though the "frame" around the screen itself is a little bland and wide - not sexy enough IMO. The top of the monitor at the front edge has a flat area several inches deep suitable for placing a picture frame on (or whatever items you use to personalize your space) without interference with the air vents. Plastic is standard beige on front and grey on the sides/back; the darker shade on the sides and back helps make it seem smaller than it is, but it is still a pretty deep monitor so be sure you have room for it; an LCD this is not. The green LED light that indicates the monitor on is kept far away from the screen itself (more than two inches down from it) so it does not distract.The monitor weights about the same as a Volkswagon as others have noted (or complained), but it swivels (and tilts) on its base with remarkable ease; only a light touch is needed, and that is what matters.I've experienced no technical problems - the monitor shuts off when the PC is shut off, the on-screen controls are simple to set, and it automatically degausses itself at start-up as needed.At times, this monitor is available at an exceptionally low price, making the decision to enlarge your perspective an easy one. This product was great value. Beat everyone elses price by at least 60$. I did have to file down the opening where the parking brake foot lever was, but that was because I wanted to avoid bending the brake lever. With a sanding pad on a dremel, it took only about 15 minutes. These kicks saved me hours of fiberglass time!
