Avenger A0045B Aluminum Baby Photographic Light Stand 45 (Black) Review

Just got my A0045B light stand and it is impressive. Aluminum construction so it's relatively light weight (given it's size) and extremely sturdy and high quality (and made in Italy). The legs are square instead of round, which supposedly adds to the sturdiness of the stand, and I tend to believe it. The max length of all the extension poles is just about 14 feet, and since both leg attachments to the main pole are adjustable, you can increase the max height to about 15.5 feet. The 5/8" stud at the top is great, although it might have been good to have a 3/8" thread on top of the stud like many of the Manfrotto stands. This stand is not air cushioned, but there are rubber rings under each tightening piece so that even if you drop it down fast it will be cushioned a bit. This is a fantastic stand and well worth the price (almost two hundred bucks).

Canon 0134V882 Hard Carrying Case Review

This was the second Storm iM2750 case I have purchased for my employer. We also have two of the Pelican 1610 cases. They are almost identical in terms of dimensions. These cases are routinely loaded with 50-70 pounds of special tools for our road crews to travel around the country, and occasionally overseas. When the road crews travel they check these as baggage. They hold up very well to the baggage handlers, conveyor belts, trolleys etc. The latches are very strong and the wheels on the bottom have not failed in the 3 years we have used them. When compared to the equivalent Pelican 1610, The Storm is a little lighter but the latches and wheels have withstood the abuse better. We have replace the wheels on the Pelican cases twice over 5 years and one latch has been replaced. Pelican stands behind their product and sends us free replacement parts so customer service with Pelican has been good. I have not had to deal with Storm customer service yet so can't comment. If I had to make a choice between the two I would say for severe duty, the Storm will hold up better. Both have provisions to attach a TSA baggage lock.

Interfit Photographic Super Cool-lite, 5 Lamp Continuous Fluorescent Single Head with Softbox & Reflector Review

A friend of mine had these lights and let me borrow them for a few months. It was hard to give them back, so I just purchased my own. I just love how easily you can control the brightness of the lights. There are 5 light bulbs with an on/off button for each light. I gave this review a 4 because I did have a problem with the light box. It has 4 rods that bend to give it it's shape. Well after a few days of this product in my possession, one of the rods broke. Interfit sent me four more rods because they couldnt replace just one... which was cool. Since then, another one has broke which makes me question the quality of the light box. Again, the good news is the manufacturer quickly sent me replacement rods and when intact the light box works great. These lights are great. I am a beginner and was really pushing my budget to spend so much on lights, but I have worked with cheaper $100 lights and these Interfit ones are on another level. Plus, I've seen some way more expensive, so I figured these are some where in the middle of cheap and expensive. Note: I use my lights for both photography and video work.

HDMI 2 x 8 Splitter Review

Had previously had a HDMI 4 splitter & needed to add one more TV so I ordered the HDMI 8 splitter. The unit works well with the Blue-Ray Panasonic sytem & Scaler but those two systems have to be up & warmed up before the Splitter is turned on or some of the TV's do not sync-up. When you shift from one HDMI input to the other a long pause occures before it syncs-up with the new input. Causes a few problems since our church application has multiple users. But the bottom line is it does the job as long as you sequence the warm-up correctly.
