Bought this Denon a few years back, it has served me very well, it has 7.1 channel capabilities. Used it for movies/music/games. Very "Warm" sounding Receiver and pairs up excellent with Klipsch Speakers. It has a slightly shorter stance than other receivers. The remote is ugly, so I went with a Logitech Harmony. The Auto Setup feature allows you to place the Denon Mic in your listening area to fine tune the receiver to the acoustics of your room and speakers.75 watts is conservatively rated, its not the most powerful system, but will bring plenty of power to small to medium sized rooms. Most importantly, it dosent cut corners, it delivers 75 watts of full power to each of the seven channels, so each speaker will be just as powerful as the other. Only drawback is no HDMI. High Quality product.

Harman Kardon AVR 100 Dolby Digital Audio/Video Receiver Review

I have to admit that the Watts per Channel had me worried when the salesman was showing me receivers, until I listened to the sound. I also have a Harmon Kardon CD player and they are connected with a Fiber Optic line. The clarity and lack of distortion at all volume levels is incredible with this receiver. I have speakers rated at 150 watts and to tell you the truth, I would never turn this receiver up over 50%. I live in an apartment and it feels like the walls are caving in at that level. To me the most important thing with a receiver is how it sounds at more moderate levels. If you live in an apartment, that is how you will listen to it 90% of the time. The clarity is exceptional at low to moderate volume levels. You will not find a receiver that will deliver such a clean sound at this price. Most receivers at this price level WOW people with bells and whistles and high wpc ratings, and then they deliver junk. Buy this and save some money for speakers that will allow you to enjoy nice clear sound.

CROON AUDIO Original Sound System Bluetooth Speaker (Red) Review

I found out about Croon Audio while reading one of my RSS feeds one day and I am so glad that I came across it. Croon Audio's The Original speaker system started out as a project on Kickstarter.com and I wish I had known about it then because it would have been cheaper to get one that way. But, no regrets for the higher price, because this thing is awesome!

The first thing that you'll notice when you take it out of the box is that it feels substantial. There is substantial weight to the speaker, which is a trait of most audiophile equipment. The next thing that you'll notice is the beauty of the speaker. This thing is gorgeous!

The construction of the speaker cabinet, the stabilization legs and the paint on the unit, everything signals that you have in front of you a audiophile piece of equipment. I am somewhat liberal with my usage of the word [Audiophile], however, when you look at this system holistically, it can be used within this context.

This is not something that you would typically expect for this price point or from a Bluetooth speaker. Typically, in the Bluetooth speaker category you get weak performing and ugly looking mass production units.

The Original's sound is where all of this comes together. I have streamed music from my iPod/iPad/iPhone as well as Pandora. This speaker system sounds amazing. Even at low volumes the speaker is a capable performer. Turn it up mid-way and above and The Original really shines with beautiful clear detail and deep rich base. To outperform this speaker you would have to be in the $400+ category. My Bowers & Wilkins MM1's do outperform this speaker, but they come in at $500 and they are not Bluetooth capable. So, at this price point there is nothing like it on the market.

Vixen 3992 Porta Mount Review

This is a unique alt azimuth tripod as you can freely reposition your scope and immediately use the slow motion controls without needing to engage clutches. Very clever.
Right out of the box, there are several improvements that can be made. The main problem is stability. With the legs extended, the tripod becomes unstable and you will notice image tremor when you try to focus. Using vibration suppressor pads (sold by Celestron or Meade) help very much. Keeping the legs as unextended as possible (you might have to use a very low stool if you have a refractor) helps very much. The other thought for those with handy hands is to fashion clamps for the upper portion of the legs. I also undid the mount from the bottom of the tripod and took apart the azimuth assembly. Typical import thick cheap nasty grease and metal filings everywhere. I cleaned it up, removed filiings, regreased it, and correctly tensioned the spring loaded nut controlling the azimuth. It made a night and day difference. The final hint is to buy two of Vixen's long flexible focus knobs. They will allow you to slew slow motion without introducing any vibration. This is great for double star and planetary observation when you don't want to wait for those irritating vibrations to die out everytime you touch the mount. Throw away those two silly cheap plastic knobs. All in all, an attractive light weight mount. Wished they made the tripod more stable.
