I believe the 4-dot to be the best of the UltraDots. It produces a wider choice of dot sizes - 4,8,12, and 16 whereas the MatchDot is 2,4,6, and 8. I could never use the 2 so the spectrum is much more limited. This sight is sturdy, clear picture, and retains its setting.

Edit: I just realized that this item was NOT the 4-Dot as I thought and was returned for refund so that I might buy the 4-Dot.

My husband got this thing and put it on our mini-van, telling me it would make my cell phone work no matter where I went. We live in a pretty remote area, and I am always nervous that I'm going to break down or get stuck someplace and have no way to call my husband or get help.

I have been very impressed at how well my phone has worked since he put this in my van. Everyone asks me who my provider is and even my friends' phones work better when they ride with me. It's great! Great sounding microphone. This is my first SM86 model, but we own more than 10 Shure SLX series wireless mics. They are made for use. So much better than our old Sennheiser models. Great mic for best man speech as it has bigger pickup pattern compared to the super-cardioid model.

BUT in this case, it is only truly useful in tele-mode. When you zoom out about half way, the sides of the lens actually start creeping in on the corners of the scene - and when fully zoomed out, the image appears to be getting shot through a length of pipe. I am using this on a Sony HDR-HC1 which has only 10x optical zoom, so the 2x this lens adds is handy - but this tunnel vision is a disappointing and unexpected side effect. When zoomed in - or anything past about half way - it does a great job and there is no tunnel-vision.
