Kanto SYD5GRN Speaker System for iPod (Kelly Green) Review

My wife likes to listen to music in her studio, but didn't want something too obtrusive. Her studio can get noisy (glass lampwork) so she needed something with some power, but still able to faithfully reproduce sound quality, especially during quiet times. I bought her the Kanto Syd-5 for Christmas and she LOVES it. The cabinet is beautiful and if there's not an iPod docked on top, you don't notice it on the bookshelf it rests on. I read that the cabinet is made with the same finish they use for high-end pianos, and I believe it.

PROS: Super sound quality, plenty of bass, and plenty of power if you want to crank it up. I tried hooking it up to a 32" LCD TV via the S-video, and while it wasn't HD, it was pretty good. You could pair it with a flat screen and maybe a DVD player and have a pretty decent home theater. The remote is OK and lets you adjust treble/mid-range/bass.

CONS: Not many, but this is one heavy unit (25+ lbs). You won't want to move it around too much. We have the black finish, and while it's beautiful, fingerprints and dust are noticable.

As far as pricing, the Syd-5 was in the $4-500 range when it came out, but I got it for $250. I've heard the Bose Sounddock (both models), and the Syd-5 outperforms them easily for a (lot)less money. If you don't need portability and if looks and price/performance are important, then you can't do better than the Kanto Syd-5

Just received this projector this afternoon, Everything was in the box,The remote on the other hand was used, I mean used broken pieces fell out of the battery compartment and the inside and outside had what looks like super glue on it,Like it was broken before and a messed up job of repairing, Haven't had a chance to use the projector as the remote controls the major functions, Notified Amazon about the remote,I know, Good luck getting a replacement for the remote, Just to see if the Damn thing works It's true you get what you pay for, Lets just say I'm out $265 dollars for this, I live in Washington st, and so is Amazon So much for the LED-66 If nothing can be done Amazon has lost a customer,To them it is probably no big deal.Was able to fix the remote,I'm impressed with the projector,Use it as the main tv,It is a 640x480 not 800x600 or 1280x768 and it is 800:1 not 2000:1 If you get a video set-up dvd made for the contrast,brightness,color,sharpness and tint,It will make the setup easier,It also has a user setting to do the adjustments,Once done,Just defocus slightly,It will minimize the screen door effect(sde).At 11ft.was able to achieve a 110in.picture,As mentioned defocus slightly and set the sharpness level lower,This projector is set at 30,I mean for a 640x480 it is perfect,Can't beat the price for a tv my cable is 480i anyway, I'm buying another one,Plus more
