BOXDG33TLM Intel Dg33tl MicroATX Socket 775 1333MHz FSB DDR2 Moth Review

I bought this board on recommendation from a user on Tonymacx86, and so far I have been absolutely impressed!

On Windows 7:
This board is a great little board for the 775 architecture. I had a spare Q9400 quad core processor laying around, as well a 8GB of DDR2 and a GTS450. It seemed a shame to watch these parts sit around, and when I saw that this board was only around fifty bucks I jumped right on it! This is my first Intel board (normally a Gigabyte fan), and I was extremely impressed! Everything from the documentation to the included accessories seemed well made...I really enjoyed opening it all up! Even the rear I/O shield seems sturdier than many I have received in the past. The pinout sticker that came with the board (an 7"x7" sticker with all the header pinouts) was EXTREMELY useful and much appreciated. Everything works wonderfully under Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I have NO complaints! I used the onboard video for a little while, and it was perfect for HD and even blu-ray video watching! It has two PCIEx1 ports, a PCI legacy port and a PCIEx16 port. All of this, along with FOUR DDR2 slots makes this one of the most expansive mATX boards available!

On OSX Lion 10.7:
Now my primary reason for buying this board was because I heard it was compatible with OSX! I threw all of my parts in, bought the retail USB Lion drive (using the money I saved on this board) and got everything set up in less than an afternoon! On-board video and sound does not work with the custom DSDT I have, but since I have my GST450 with HDMI sound, this wasn't a huge deal! Overall I was VERY impressed with how easy everything was to set up, and with my "Mac Pro 3,1" with a quad core processor and 8GB of RAM for under $400 all said and done, I really can't complain. Argue all you want about hackintoshes, I will been on Final Cut Pro while you do.

Whether you are looking for a cheap motherboard for windows or OSX, this is a great choice! Intel isn't the premiere component manufacturer for nothing, and this experience has definitely made me look twice at Intel boards. They may not be the prettiest, but they definitely hold their own against the other big players!

*UPDATE*
Well, I am now on my second of these boards. They really are rock solid, and I have had no real issues whatsoever (in windows or OSX)! I have now added an SSD, and despite being only SATAII, it still flies along nicely! If you can find this board cheaply (I haven't paid more than $55 for one) I highly recommend giving it a try.

On OSX Mountain Lion 10.8:
Everything works as it did in Lion except from sleep - using sleepenabler you can set the computer to go to sleep, but it won't fall asleep via energy preferences.

ONKYO TX-NR900 THX Select 7.1-Channel Digital Surround Receiver Review

This is the best THX surround receiver,that I've owned. It sounds awesome,plenty of power for deep bass, that doesn't break up.
I did have some trouble, updating the firmware, and I thought there was a problem with it, so I had an Onkyo repair center update the firmware for me. It was free under warranty, the repair center couldn't duplicate my problem, and had no problem updating the firmware, so I chalk it up to an I/O error; IDIOT Operator, like the 1 star review.

I bought it refurbished, I paid just over $500 versus $1500 for a new one, well over 5 years ago... I pretty much run it 24/7, it's been totally reliable, and I couldn't be happier with it!

I own several Onkyo THX receivers, because I love the power, one in my master bedroom, one in my garage/shop, and the NR900 in my living room, that I use for my TV surround sound, and playing music from my Dell 390 Quad, via a SPDIF cable from my 24 bit 7.1 Rocketfish sound card and it sounds awesome.
The Rocketfish RF-71SDCD - Sound card - 24-bit - 96 kHz - 7.1 - PCI, can be found on Amazon for $27 new, and it works with Windows XP, (VISTA), and Windows 7.

You can now get the NR900 for around $300 through Amazon, I don't know of any other receiver, that will give you this kind of bang for the buck, and I strongly recommend it over most new receivers.

Btw, don't skimp on your speakers, especially the center channel speaker, (and then the sub), because it's the most important speaker. I use and recommend the Infinity Beta C-360, along with the Infinity PS 212 subwoofer.

The Hercules WAE speaker is a fantastic find for music lovers. The portability of it is great, the sound is pristine, and the ease of use is nothing more than a button press. The downfall is the price...

First things first. You open the box. Pull out the speaker. Turn it on. Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone/device of choice. Find the speaker. Connect. Done.

To enhance your listening experience, they do offer a free app from the Google Play Store. This app lets you tweak your sound settings, however, they also offer an AM/FM radio and access to your media from the app itself. Very worth the price.

As for the sound, it's right on. I had a problem with the amount of bass at first yet that problem was remedied after downloading the app. Once fixed I couldn't be happier.

Now for my one problem, the price. Now I understand that high quality has its price, but this is HEFTY. However, if you are willing to pay for it, you won't be disappointed in the least. The battery power is crazy long as well.

So there you have it. A stellar product with an equally stellar price. Good and bad. Highly recommended.

i want to know more about this board before i buy it. especially for its price being considerably high. things such as whether it has 8-in-1 media reader, how many usb ports it has, whether it supports intel's ingenious program that came with the computer's motherboard i need to replace: intel audio studio. if you know about that program, then you'll agree how great it is to get 8-speaker audio instead of 2-speaker audio without it. i dont know how to put a computer together though, but i thought this could be installed by a pro for a cheaper price because id have the parts needed. pentium d, 512 mb ram ddr, nvidia 256 mb vram card (dont know if i'll need it if the graphics are good enough, though but i did on my old gateway) good heatsink/fans (hope my motherboard didnt die from too much heat or i'll need new heat-control) and 300w power supply that i hope is compatible with this motherboard.
